What is CBD Hemp?

CBD is short for cannabidiol, one of many cannabinoid compounds found in the hemp plant. The body has specific receptors that interact with cannabinoids, called the endocannabinoid system. This system plays many roles within the body, including impacting mood, sleep, inflammation and immune responce, pain, stress, motor control, skin and nerve function, appetite, and more. This is why CBD has been credited with alleviating such a wide variety of ailments.

CBD's most common uses include pain relief, reduce anxiety and depression, sleep aid, improve skin condition, and relief of nausea, especially related to cancer treatment. There are studies that indicate CBD could have even bigger impacts such as anticancer properties, neuroprotective, and heart health benefits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?
A. Hemp and marijuana are two different forms of the cannabis plant. The plants look the same, grow the same, and even smell the same. But the major difference is in that hemp doesn't contain THC, which is the compound with psychoactive effects. Hemp will not make you high. Hemp is non-intoxicating, but marijuana is.

Q. Is hemp legal?
A. Yes! As part of the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp was legalized nationally. But you should still be somewhat careful.

The smokable hemp flower looks and smells identical to marijuana. This could cause some trouble if you are trying to fly with it, or during encounters with law enforcement, especially in state where recreational marijuana is not legal. Use your best judgment.

Q. What is the difference between full spectrum CBD and CBD products made with an isolate?
A. Most industrial CBD products are made with what is called isolate. This is made during an industrial process that separates the CBD from the other cannabinoids using solvents.
Our oil is made from the whole flower, which is the highest quality, highest potency part of the plant. We infuse the flower with organic MCT coconut oil on our farm. The end product is a full spectrum oil, which contains not only CBD but trace amount of all the cannabinoids. This produces what is known as the beneficial "encore effect."

Q. Will taking Sun Spirit's full spectrum CBD oil cause me to fail a drug test? What about smoking Sun Spirit's hemp flower?
A. The third party lab tests on our CBD oil came back with with "Non Detectable" THC levels (see the Certificate of Analysis on product description) . With this being said, it is a full spectrum oil, made with the whole flower and not a CBD isolate.
The Cherry Wine smokable flower has a THC content of 0.3%, which is the highest legal limit for THC in hemp. For each gram of hemp, there are about 3.4mg of THC and 129mg of CBD. I don't know enough about the drug testing to say if that would show up on or not. It would also depend on if the drug test is sophisticated enough to differentiate between the cannabinoids of THC and CBD. I have seen conflicting information on this topic.
